My surgery is set for April 14. All the preliminary stuff is done. I should be in the hospital for a day or 2 following the procedure and be out of action for a month or 6 weeks, depending. My MD daughter helped me make my final decision and I definitely appreciate her for that. She seems to be "getting" the practice of medicine.

OK. You made a well educated decision obviously. That's good. Your a nurse? and daughter is studying for doctorate?...all good. I'm sure you made the wisest choice after considering the options available.
Now what do I say man? I wish you well? good luck?....nah, none of that. (Not that I wouldn't mean it)
Just be strong 'Catman'. If ever you need something that I can possibly give to you?...weather it be encouragement, optimism, a laugh, a box score, or even a semi-anonymous shoulder to pout on? Don't hesitate to ask--I'll be around----bank on that.
I'd be nervous and scared if too. But that's human nature, just know people are here for you if you need a break from your 'real-life' support group and need to talk to someone.
Hey?..Your going to laid-up for 4-6 weeks???---Think of the quality time we can spend together!!! We can hang-out on line together!!! lol (Don't go buying a gun)
If all goes as I know it will?---I'll be 'ragging' on you by mid-May.
I cannot believe how tired I am all the time. I can last about 6 hours at work, unfortunately I work 8 hour shifts. The last couple of hours I'm running on fumes. I cannot believe how my head aches most of the time -- its probably psychological on both counts. I just want this to be over.

Dont let it get the best of you. You will beat this thing if you stay focused. Good luck catman!
Tonight, the wall hit me after 4 hours. The last 4 were really tough.
That sucks. Don't let it bother you all that much. Of course your body is tired---it's fighting back and fighting a hard battle You will win.. Just keep eating right, getting rest and put your mindset into (I hate to say this) --WINNING. lol.
Your coworkers know what is going on (I'd think) and they should have no problem helping you out if your not feeling 100% for a shift or two. Working on positive energy and prayer (if your into that) is what works for a lot of people.
I understand me typing 'think happy thoughts' may seem trivial, but I believe in Mind Over Matter, and believe that one can overcome a lot of difficulties through sheer WILL.
I will send my prayers and positive thoughts your way--I know it will help you to recover.
We had one of those stories last Monday. The surgery was yesterday and I'm home today. I feel like an old man (no offense, Rick). Its hard to stand up straight. Thanks to everyone for your support. I appreciate it a lot.
