I forged notes when I skipped. You just have to watch the answering machine for the confirmation calls.

I wish I could skip work and still get a paycheck.
I got so good at forging excuse slips, the dean of boys wasn't sure if it was his signature or not. dance

Oh man! I never forged the dean's or the principal's signatures, only mom and pops! You had balls.

Do you mean you went to one of those fancy "new york city" private schools? No wonder you turned out the way you did.

I can proudly say I'm (probably) the least educated person here.

Was that meant to be surprising?  dance

Naw, I only went to public schools in Winston-Salem.  I forged mom's too.  Even if she wrote it, I'd write my own.  If they called her and asked if she wrote the note, she'd say yes.  After awhile, my notes were good as gold..when the dean wrote a note to readmit me to a class, I'd do the same.  I wrote notes for friends too.  A two-bit criminal I was. wink2

That's funny! You don't hear the word dean with public schools too much. I always had a principal, I thought you were in a private school of some type.

I messed up once- my mom came to pick me up at school, and they didn't believe it was her! I'd forged so much shit, her signature wasn't good anymore...
Course, I never did that with money, but school? bets are off!
I even once skipped and visited a 2nd cousin- who was a teacher in the next county! that was fun getting away with it, but Carol caught on and my income for notes was cut in half... lmao!

After you learn how to get away with skipping out the second step is always having somewhere to go! Fast food restaurants in the morning and the Catholic girls' houses in the afternoon to get drunk and laid!

I know it was a lay up, but someone needed to take it.

I had a couple of Canadian students in my math classes this year and, trust me, it doesn't appear that you were missing out. One of them I caught cheating on an exam and he got a 17/100. What kind of system do you have up there if your high schools aren't even teaching students how to cheat effectively?

Yeah, we had dean of girls, dean of boys, guidance counsellers, etc.  We had a big dean of boys who would bust your ass with a big board.  He always said, 3 swats, or 3 days after school detention.  I always took the swats.  He'd make your ass bleed. Thumbs Up

What did you you do?..out of curiosity. I wouldn't now how to deal with a cheat.

I suppose I'd call him/her on it, relay my disappointment...then what?

I would give them 'one more time'? But be furious. It would NOT happen again, I wouldn't be able to say the first offence , will not be the 'third strike'..and I would let your kids know there is thier is no worse feeling than someone being disappointed in you.

It was a rough situation, but our school has a specific protocol about what to do. I had to call him into my office and confront him about it and then he gets it on his record, drops his overall class grade by a full letter grade, etc. It was just a messy situation.

That seems fair.

I hope the student understands that his actions put you in a position that is not fair to YOU, and his actions was the creation of the problem.

Sure hope he accepted responsibility and accountability, apologised, accepted the penalty, and is eager to move-on.

I haven't looked into it but---something similar happened at Harvard University.

I need more time to look deeper how this could have happened, but THAT'S fooling more than 'some of the people, some of the time'

Interesting.
